Cooper wasn't too happy to find out his mother had chosen
an unwed woman to be the guardian for him and his younger
sister and brother, Colleen and Brian. Despite his rebellious
attitude, it didn't take long for Dr. Mike to find a place
in his heart and earn the name, "Ma."
Always
championing various causes and defending the 'underdog,'
Matthew believed in working hard for what he wanted and
didn't like to accept charity from anyone. He sometimes
acted without thinking which usually resulted in one fix
or another, but the lessons learned as a result enabled
him to mature into a wise and open-minded man.
After
losing the only girl he loved (Ingrid) to rabies, he had
to strike out and find himself again, eventually coming
to be the town sheriff and launching a career as a lawman.
Through it all, he became a better man and a beloved member
of town.
